Psychedelics In Recovery

What is Psychedelics in Recovery?
Psychedelics in Recovery (PIR) is a community-based organization based in San Francisco (with online meetings oriented toward anyone in the USA, Europe, or the United Kingdom yet open to all worldwide every day at least once a day or more) that offers a support group model similar to AA or NA, but with a focus on integrating psychedelic experiences into the recovery process. PIR provides a safe, nonjudgmental space for individuals to share their journeys and explore how psychedelics can assist in overcoming addiction and fostering personal growth.
How It Works
PIR combines peer support with the exploration of psychedelic insights. Members use psychedelic experiences as tools to better understand themselves, address the root causes of addiction, and build a meaningful, sustainable recovery path. Meetings emphasize mutual respect, self-discovery, and shared learning.
Why It’s Effective
Unlike traditional 12-step programs, PIR recognizes the potential of psychedelics to catalyze profound healing and self-awareness. Research shows that psychedelics like psilocybin and ibogaine can interrupt addictive patterns, reduce cravings, and promote long-term abstinence by addressing trauma and fostering spiritual growth. PIR supports members in integrating these experiences into their daily lives for a holistic recovery process.
Why Choose PIR?
Non-Dogmatic: PIR encourages self-defined recovery goals, offering flexibility and inclusivity for individuals at any stage of their journey.
Spiritual and Therapeutic Growth: Psychedelics are framed as tools for healing, not escape, emphasizing their role in self-understanding and personal empowerment.
Community Support: Like AA, PIR relies on the power of shared experiences and community, but with a more modern, inclusive perspective.
How It Benefits Society
PIR offers an innovative model of recovery that reduces stigma, embraces diverse paths to healing, and fosters greater compassion and understanding around addiction. By supporting individuals in finding their own way to recovery, PIR builds healthier, more connected communities.
Find a Meeting
Psychedelics in Recovery meetings are available in person and online, making it easy to join a supportive, like-minded community. Explore PIR’s official website or local groups to learn more and take the first step toward integrating psychedelics into your recovery journey.

Looking for a Sponsor?
Rise Above The Risk, as you know it today, only exists thanks to the help of psychedelics. "How so?" you ask? Well, psychedelics were monumental in R.A.T.R.'s founder's process of recovery as well as the design and development of the website in some senses. Without the psychedelic experience, the founder believes he would be dead or hopelessly addicted to drugs today at best. Instead, he is among the very first handful of individuals who are qualified to take people through the 12 steps of Psychedelics In Recovery. As his way of paying it forward, the founder takes time out of his own busy schedule to work one on one with those who desire to go through the steps of Psychedelics In Recovery much the same as his sponsor did for him. He also happens to work with both men and women because the demand for sponsors is so high that he doesn't feel it fair to limit who he helps based on gender. The material used to teach his sponsees is largely taken out of a book being written by his own sponsor that will be published sometime this year (in 2026.) That being said, working with Vincent (the founder of R.A.T.R.) is extremely advantageous in terms of the unique level of support offered and he does his best to make himself available as a sponsor to as many people as he possibly can.
If you feel that you would make a good candidate for sponsorship, please reach out using the information found on the website's contact page (or by using one of the contact forms which, once submitted, are delivered right to our email inbox). While not everybody will be accepted, Vincent is willing to take on individuals on a first come first serve basis. Multiple candidates at a given time will be afforded the opportunity to work with Vincent as well, so its not all-or-nothing when applying. If selected, an interview will be arranged to get to know each other a little better and the "step-work" (as it is called) will begin the next meeting thereafter. Provided things go smoothly, the whole process is about 12 weeks (one week for each step). However, not everyone is the same and it can take more or less time depending on the person and their circumstances. Hopefully this now gives everyone a better understanding of how exactly Vincent works as a sponsor so there is no confusion at any point during the application process.
That all having been said, we want to wish you the best in your endeavors whether you end up working with Vincent himself or not. Even if you reach out and Vincent isn't the right fit for whatever reason, we will do our best to locate another individual who is available and able to sponsor you. We have a rather extensive social network as we may have mentioned before, so we are quite confident that we will be able to figure some sort of placement out for you if that's what you desire from us.
